ASSEMBLY LINE

ASSEMBLY LINE OPENS AT TIN-AW ART GALLERY

“Assembly Line,” the opening exhibition of Tin-aw Art Gallery in Makati starts on February 29, 2008. The group show features the works of Melvin Culaba, Alfred Esquillo, Mark Justiniani, Raymond Legaspi, Joy Mallari, Ferdie Montemayor, Kirby Roxas, Lirio Salvador, Juanito Torres, Clairelynn Uy, and Pamela Yan. Works vary from oils on canvas, mixed media and sculpture.

In “Assembly Line,” the modern day world is presented as one where technological and digital advances run at a frenzied pace. That so called state-of-the-art equipment immediately become obsolescent manifestations to be replaced by other more advanced equipment. The logic of machines, however, remains time-bound, material and somewhat futile. The show questions whether machines can address deep metaphysical and inexhaustible human needs, or whether these needs can only be addressed onto an order that is beyond man and machine. “Assembly Line” runs until March 21, 2008.

Tin-aw Art Gallery is located at Unit C-13, Upper ground floor, Olympia Towers, Makati Avenue corner Sto. Tomas St., Makati City. Tin-aw means “clear” in Ilonggo and usually refers to water. The gallery is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 8 pm. Mondays by appointment. For inquiries, please call Dawn Atienza at 0917-5341378 or Marya Salang at 0916-5636687. Admission is free.
