Asimilasyon Radikal, post-punk aesthetics presents the work of Filipino painters whose work emerged from 1980�s to the late 1990s. Curated by Lian Ladia of the Kwatro-Kantos art collective in San Francisco, CA - the exhibition is a mix of both local Filipino and Filipino-American Painters whose work emerged from 1980's to the late 1990's. This exhibition represents a unique complex aesthetic amongst artists from this period who started to experiment with more challenging structures, nihilisitic themes or self-conscious art-based image -unconsciously retaining punk's initial iconoclastic stance of having a tumultuous relationship in popular culture, a struggle to resist commercialization and appropriation in History. The featured artists are Andres Barrioquinto, Alfred Esquillo, San Francisco based art collective, Kwatro-Kantos (England Hidalgo, Marcius Noceda, Carlo, Ricafort, Mel Vera Cruz), Robert Langenegger, Romeo Lee and Santiago Bose.
These critically acclaimed, awarded progressive painters all come together for one month in Asimilasyon Radikal as the Cultural Center of the Philppines marks the value of this kind of aesthetic and their time and place in Philippine history.
