ROCK DRILON
Recent Drawings
8 July - 1 August 2009
Artist - Rock Drilon is neither repugnant nor renouncing what he had established with his art in his previous series of masterly paintings that engages his subjects in a bombardment of visual, texts, and other means of medium, leading on to a mass of saturated stimuli; as in contemporary art, that are embedded in an extricable layers of form that shadow complexity, that streams on multiple focuses, that networks salient projections wired by a vacuum of readings. The artist casts the elementary out from the frame of multi-complex surfaces. In his upcoming show entitled Recent Drawings, he restates the autonomy of drawing that its basic nature is independent and is confined in its own conventions, structure, and concepts.
Dating back to the Drilon's recurrent convoluted, congested, maze-like loops, are weeded out from a seemingly visual indigestion to crude, elongated, and minimal curves, amplified not by heavy-shaded rhythms of the oil palette but by the monochromatic tone gray of pencil on paper, in which the artist is driven to focus on a life of art in its abstraction, detached from its piled-up layers of construct.
Recent Drawings series, is not just a dedicated exhibition of personal codes of the artist's venture to the self and realization, but a constructive study as well as a point-driven execution of direct and straight-forward rendering of the creation process and conceptual work, which are made more accessible to clearer intersections of comprehension and absorption; also surfacing through the rawness and preconceived strokes of thought partnered by its intensity information that highlights the use of the primary and elementary medium and composition, out from the trail of plurality and braided systems of approach and medium, conjoining the periphery to the center creating a linear distinction and priority, making the focus eroded, hampered, even lost.
Recent Drawings opens on 8 July (Wednesday) and runs until 1 August 2009.
