BENGUET ARTIST SUMMIT CALL FOR APPLICANTS

For its third Artist Summit, the Outlooke Pointe Foundation revamps its young residency program by extending the duration to ten days and focusing on the artistic practices in the area of residency through talks with local artists and tours of local art spaces. Held for the first time in Benguet province, and designed to coincide with the celebration of the Grand Cañao and the Benguet Foundation Day, the program aims to offer artists an opportunity for social and artistic engagement in a new environment, thereby creating a sense of community among artists from different regions.

The OPF Artist Summit offers artists a serene setting conducive to focused, goal-oriented work, and the opportunity to establish new connections with fellow artists, across a stimulating array of disciplines and locations. The OPF Artist Summit III: Benguet is a ten day artist residency program held in Benguet province for Filipino contemporary artists over the age of 18, working in the visual arts. Interested artists will be requested to send in a completed application form, a curriculum vitae, and samples of their work. A selection committee, which changes for each location of the residency, will choose the 4-6 best proposals based on concept and execution. Each chosen artist will be provided travel, food, lodging, studio space and a basic stipend for materials for the duration of the program. Artists will give a short talk/presentation about their work, and special tours of the area will be scheduled, as well as occasions for meeting local artists. Each participant will be assigned one local artist, who he/she has to work on a collaborative piece with. At the end of the ten days, an exhibit will be held, showcasing the collaborative pieces, as well as the individual works of the participating artists. The collaborative pieces will be auctioned off, while the individual works will be included in the private collection of the foundation. The exhibit and auction will also be part of the provinces’ celebration of the Grand Cañao and the Benguet Foundation Day, which the participants will be fortunate enough to be a part of, as guests of Congressman Cosalan of Benguet province.
