OUT OF THE BOX

Artis Corpus Gallery presents OUT OF THE BOX, an exhibition featuring artists from Bulacan: Marc Salamat, Brian Bernardo, Rommel Sampana, Jukus Sepada, Papi Umali, and Chuck Castro. The exhibition is co-presented by and will be mounted in Sining Kamalig at Level 4 of the Gateway Mall in Araneta Center Cubao. Show opens 6pm on Monday 4 October 2010 and will run till 27 October.

Bulacan artists have long been associated with traditional arts primarily influenced by the Spanish tastes of the turn of the previous century. It is in this arena that contemporary artists from the province have wanted to break away from. They would like to express their art in as free an environment as possible, without the stigma of the traditional Bulakeño creating crafts and safe art. Six artists, mostly from the State University, have gathered to prove their worth. They would like to change the notion that provincial art needs to be limited only to its own immediate environment.
