Veneracion is best known for his temerity in deviating from the conventional approaches of art. While other abstractionist can be categorized as either minimalists flourishing in simplicity or brazen expressionists, he chose to be radical in his audacious pursuit to bring together both abstract ideas and representational imagery in his craft. He termed his particular aesthetic concept as “Syncretism” which he had kept faith throughout his prolific career after earning the nods of many art critics and aficionados.
It is Veneracion’s desire to incorporate in his works the innate contradictions found in the cultural interactions of the east and west and eventually find a common ground between the two. He also ventures into thematic concepts dealing with the effects of technological advancements and scientific breakthroughs on long-standing customs and traditions. Simply put, his works of art speak of his active social consciousness through symbolism.
His works come across as a sea of eternal paradoxes – teasing and uninhibited yet the sense of conscientiousness is still in sight. They speak of his personal tendencies towards the things that meet his eye; therefore, fusing the esoteric art world and the mass-oriented pop culture. This atypical pursuance earned him the warm approval and appreciation of both the estranged and sophisticated zealots of art.
