The JIV MANILA art group presents ‘SOUL SEASONS’, a collection of artworks that evoke a myriad of moods and color shifts occurring in the soul, tested by circumstance and perfected by time. Opening on Wednesday, May 13, at the Mag:net Café Gallery in Bonifacio High Street Taguig. Seasons are said to be likened to changes that occur everyday, and this collection shows the many ways by which soul expressions may change – in cycles, through spirals, ups and downs, in light and darkness.
Juno Parungao in her ‘Soul Gems’ collection captures these many seasons using gemstones as her inspiration. They show the intense moods and characterization of prominent gemstones which have been revered for their spiritual significance. She used semi-precious stones, glass beads and organic gems with acrylic giving her collection the real feel of gemstones.
Visual art gourmet Jeremy Malcampo’s soulful paintings depict the gastronomic taste of food, wine, and cheese as he fuses the forms and texture of the canvas into delightful seasonings of the senses.
Artist Alain Austria dabbles on the ‘wet season of the soul’ with reference to the Jungian parlance that water is associated with melancholia preceding a new life. His collection invites people to turn inward and seek the wisdom that comes deep from within.
Lito Casaje’s bizarre fetish for the avant-garde in cinema, theatre, and literature attempts to contextualize these art forms into the hologram of the visual. His ‘Anarchy of the Soul’ is jagged, twisted, and oftentimes wicked pronouncements on anti-realism as conjured by the surreal magic of the paint brush and palette.
Catch ‘Soul Seasons’ and savor its many hues and colors in one place at Mag:net Café, 2/L, B-3 Bonifacio High Street Taguig Metro Manila. For more information, please visit our website www.jivmanila.multiply.com or contact 0921-557-56-03.
