LikhangLila2: A Tribute to Filipina Artists Kaida Gallery

In celebration of International Women's Day on March 8, Kaida Gallery will feature LikhangLila2, a group exhibition of ten Filipina visual artists: Daphne Aguilar, Jana Jumalon-Alano, Amihan, Maui Constantino, Ninel Constantino, Aba Lluch Dalena, Lorna Fernandez, Stephanie Lopez, Tammy Tan and Anna Varona, from 8-19 March 2009 at the Main Gallery.
Simultaneously on view with LikhangLila2 on Kaida's Gray Wall, an adjoining space for new works by upcoming and young artists, are paintings by Alee Garibay from the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts (UPCFA), LJ Ablola of Far Eastern University, and Levi Marie Batara of Technological University of the Philippines (TUP).
LikhangLila2 is Kaida Gallery’s tribute to Filipina visual artists. Kaida Gallery's initiative to sponsor an all-women's group exhibition timed for March 8 started last year, with the show entitled Likhanglila, which showcased recent works by Plet Bolipata, Marina cruz, Keiye Miranda, Pamela Yan Santos, Mervy Codizal Pueblo, and Maria Cristina Valdezco. LikhangLila2 hopes to become an annual gallery show that will focus attention to the works of Philippine women artists and support and encourage the creativity of younger women artists.
Kaida Gallery is an art space devoted to showcasing works by contemporary Philippine artists. Established in 2007 in Quezon City, Kaida Gallery features young, dedicated, and emerging painters and sculptors as well as supporting collaborations between them and established names in Philippine art. It also believes in supporting the efforts of women artists and a nascent generation of young and talented painters.
LikhangLila2 will open on March 8 (Sunday), 6 p.m., at Kaida Gallery, located at the 2nd Floor, GFO Building, 122 Kamuning Road, Quezon City, Philippines 1102. The shows run until the 19th of March. For inquiries, please call (632) 4144777 or write info@kaidagallery.com.
